چکیده
OBJECTIVE To study the relationship and changes of cervical MRI, TCD and BAEP in patients with "isolated" vertigo. METHODS The relationship and changes of cervical MRI, TCD and BAEP were investigated respectively in 125 patients with "isolated" vertigo and 100 healthy controls. RESULTS There were statistically significant differences between two groups for overall abnormalities of TCD (X(2) = 61.96, P<0.01), BAEP (X(2) = 97.99, P<0.01), and cervical MRI severity scale (Z = -8.71, P<0.01). In vertigo group, results showed significant correlations between TCD and cervical MRI, TCD and BAEP as well. And analysis on TCD PI and some items of BAEP demonstrated positive linear correlations. There were no statistical differences or correlations in control group. CONCLUSIONS TCD is a sensitive method of "isolated" vertigo screening. A combined test protocol of cervical MRI, TCD and BAEP has superiorities to assess "isolated" vertigo.

The Role of Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potentials, Electronystagmography and Transcranial Doppler in Evaluation of Patients with Vertigo
Background: vertigo may be a warning sign of impending vertebrobasilar stroke. Objective: To investigate the role of brain stem auditory evoked potential (BAEP), electronystagmography (ENG) studies and results of transcranial Doppler (TCD) in patients with vertigo of vertebrobasilar origin and patients with vertigo of non-vertebrobasilar origin. Methods: Twenty five patients with vertigo aged 4...

ABSTRACT Background: In patients with cervical spondylosis, cord compression and impingement of cord vessels as well as the vertebral artery may be accompanied by vertigo. We evaluated improvement of vertigo in these patients after surgical and medical treatment. Methods: In this prospective study we reviewed 16 patients with vertigo suspected of cervical spondylosis, admitted to our hospital ...
متن کاملP9: Cervical Spinal Cord Extraction in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Measuring Cross-Sectional Area
Multiple sclerosis (MS) refers to the lesions that accumulate in the brain and spinal cord. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most sensitive and versatile modality used to show changes in the tissues over time. There has been significant interest in evaluating the relationship between the brain atrophy and disease progression rather than the spinal cord atrophy. The cervical spinal cord h...

Background and purpose: Cervical radiculopathy is one of the most common diseases that must be diagnosed early and properly to prevent its serious side effects. For this purpose different paraclinical methods such as MRI, X-ray, EMG, NCV and SSEP are used. Each of these methods has its limitations and some of them are expensive or invassive. The aim of this study was to compare the electrodia...
